BB Curve 8520 wont turn on properly after replacing housing

All worked fine until the housing was replaced due to the original housing being scratched. After doing this, the handset will not properly power on. When turned on, the red light and keypad lights will come on, but nothing will happen on screen.

Battery pulls have been tried, as has plugging the device into a wall charger while trying to turn it on which I read somewhere may help.

Any advice on how to get it working again?
